On the weekend of August 9–10, Milwaukee was struck by historic flooding. The Milwaukee River surged to record levels, streets turned into rivers, and hundreds of emergency calls came in as homes, cars, and businesses were swallowed by the floodwaters.
One of the hardest-hit areas was near the State Fair Grounds — where Angelina, a dedicated home care nurse, lives with her two children, Phoenix and Hailee. At first, her home stayed dry through the initial round of heavy rain. But when the second wave came, the basement filled so quickly that water reached the first floor.
While she was able to save some belongings, the essential damage is staggering:
-Her foundation walls are bowing and separating
-The water heater, heater/AC, washer, dryer, and refrigerator are all destroyed
-Insurance will not cover any of it
Angelina is no stranger to hard work. She is tackling the basement cleanup herself, buying supplies and having to take off work to remove debris and damaged materials. But rebuilding a safe, stable home for her children will take far more than she can manage alone.
In her work as a home care nurse, Angelina goes above and beyond for her patients, often in a role that can be thankless and unseen. Her patients adore her for her kindness, dedication, and the way she treats everyone like family. Her patients constantly rave about her commitment. Now, she is the one who needs a community behind her.
We can’t take away the heartbreak of seeing your home, and your children safe space, damaged beyond repair.
Every donation will go directly toward repairs, replacing essential appliances, and making her home safe for Phoenix and Hailee. No amount is too small, and every share helps spread the word.
Please consider donating to help a nurse who has given so much of herself to others, rebuild the place she and her children call home.
