Please Help Nine West Orange Police Officers

On October 15, 2021 Nine West Orange Police Officers stopped receiving a paycheck due to the Township’s Covid-19 vaccination policy. All nine have submitted a request for reasonable accommodation based on each of their own unique set of circumstances. Most other police agencies have enacted similar policies but offered their officers, that have unique circumstances, the ability to test weekly and remain on duty. Unfortunately, the Township of West Orange has taken a hard line stance sending these Officers home, and into the holiday season without a paycheck.

During the height of the pandemic, these nine Officers came to work everyday. They not only faced exposure to coronavirus, but brought it home to their families as well. They comforted residents who had lost loved ones, responded to emergency calls, and without hesitation arrested criminals. For many years they have put themselves in harms way serving their community.

We ask that everyone set aside political views and opinions, and recognize that it is possible for a small percentage of the West Orange Police population to have unique circumstances that would preclude them for getting vaccinated at this time. Please recognize that these Officers are real people. They are good people who have served their community honorably. And they have families that rely on them.

As we enter the holiday season lets show these officers the same level of understanding and generosity that they have regularly shown their community through their many years of honorable service. Please help us reach our donation goal of $10,000 dollars so we can send these officers some financial assistance during a difficult time.

All donations will be distributed to these Officers through PBA Local 25.
