Please Help Nina!

On September 20th, my dog Nina was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma.

Based on Nina’s age (6) and relative health otherwise, our veterinarians and an oncologist recommended pursuing an aggressive chemotherapy treatment strategy known as CHOP in order to push the cancer into remission. They are confident in CHOP’s ability to prolong her life and sustain the highest possible quality thereof, both during and after treatment.

CHOP involves 16 weeks of multi-drug therapy with an estimated cost of $10,000.

I left my job in March of this year to finish graduate school and have yet to find a new job, so this expense – in addition to the $5,000 I’ve spent thus far on her liver biopsy surgery, recovery treatment and medication – is a massive burden that I simply can’t afford on my own. As much as I would rather not, I have to ask for your help.

I’m obviously biased, but I can truthfully say that I’ve never known a dog who connects with people more, and has brought light to more lives than Nina has. I can also honestly say that she’s been the only thing to carry me through the darkest of times on several occasions.

Nina has quite literally saved my life more than once, and I owe her the chance to continue experiencing the joy she so clearly does when meeting new people and seeing old friends, rolling in the snow, playing tug-of-war, and chasing squirrels.

Her energy, smile, and full-body happy wiggle are undeniable and have melted countless hearts in her short time here on Earth. The world is a much better place with Nina in it, and I would be deeply grateful for your help in keeping her around for as long as possible.

***Please note: I have to underscore that I am prioritizing Nina’s quality of life above all else throughout this process and I don’t take the decision to begin a long course of treatment lightly. Based on the recommendations and assurances of the experts, I think this is the best course of action to ensure she is happy and comfortable for the rest of her life. If that were not the case, I would not be asking for your help.
