Hi my Name is Rob and I am a close friend and colleague of Nicky’s.
The one thing we all have in common when we are born in that split second is that none of us chose to be born or were asked if we wanted to be part of this world.
It is a gift.
A gift which we have to accept not knowing what is ahead for any of us.
No rehearsal no money back guarantee no refunds.
We have to take it. Some will take it and run with it and achieve all their goals and dreams and ambitions.
Others will be content and happily live their life as they choose and then there are those who abuse this gift and do not do good for themselves or for others and abuse their bodies or take life, this gift they were given for granted.
Then There’s Nicky. Nicky Owles who was born in 1980 and was one of those who brought love and laughter to her parents as a child and young adult and went on to achieve her dreams and goals by meeting and marrying Peter the man of her dreams. I was at their wedding and it was clear to everyone how happy this young couple were starting out on a long and happy life together with their two beautiful daughters Grace and Charlotte.
Yes another goal a very happy loving family of their very own. Still many dreams and hopes for the future lay in front of them all as a family until in 2019 a bombshell dropped on their happy life. Nicky was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now I know as a close work colleague of hers and a very close friend we had often in the past at work raised money for victims of breast cancer and other cancers to fund treatment in the hope of stronger drugs and a cure. Cancer affects every family across the globe in every country in every street. So like so many others Nicky kept that infectious smile she has and continued to share it with us on a daily basis knowing that she too would now have to take advantage of that treatment and the battle that lay ahead of her with the never ending support of Peter, her family, friends, and work colleagues and many customers who love her at work.
Since 2019 I have seen Nicky be so brave when she’s had so many knock backs in her treatment and watched as she lost her hair, her nails and have a mastectomy all these things have knocked her down but she got back up and took it on for the love of life the gift she was given and for the sake of her kids. Six long years of battling and fighting and still working and being a wife and a loving mum and none of us heard her ever complain.
Then this month June 2025 she was given the devastating news her treatment was to stop and there is nothing that can be done and she has a few months. None of us here at work can believe it. Yes she cried telling us as we all did when she told us but then Nicky smiled that beautiful infectious smile and then comforted us yes comforted us. This is not how it’s supposed to be. A young lady just turned 45 the week before this news now has her future just taken away. Never seeing her daughters grow up. She has never done anything to deserve what she is now having to live through. We can only look on and offer love and support for someone who would do exactly the same for any of us or even you a complete stranger who is reading this and doesn’t know Nicky. We have to try and make a huge difference for her and her family in the best way we can. It’s heartbreaking. We hope in your heart there is a place for Nicky if you can donate to help this family build some lasting memories to help them to all smile and share as many laughs as possible. A smile is priceless it’s to be shared Because if we all have a bit of Nicky in our hearts and in our lives then this world really could and will be a better place. Life and time is so so precious.
With love
Rob
Myself along with Nicky’s family and friends are hoping to raise some money to help support Nicky and her family through this difficult time. We hope by doing this they can share what little time they have left together as a family and making precious memories.
We Love you Nicky ❤️
