Hi all, My name is Steve Rozycki and I am asking for your help. My nephew, Nicholas Porcelli, was unexpectedly diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect. He has a large hole in his heart and three "anomalous" veins that are causing his oxygenated and de-oxygenated blood to mix so his heart is having to work extra hard to produce more oxygenated blood. It's causing problems with his growth, his breathing, is susceptible to serious lung infections and could cause cardiac arrest.

Just before his 7th birthday next month, Nicholas will be undergoing intensive open heart surgery which will hopefully fix the hole and two veins will need to be cut and re-attached. After a week's hospital stay, he will be sent home to recover for the next several months. My sister, Melissa and brother inlaw, John will need to temporarily close their business while caring for Nicholas and their other two children.
