We are the New Rhythm Arts Collaborative (NRAC). As we move into the new year, we seek your support to achieve these things:
- Building out safe, accessible space from which to do the majority of our operations, including teaching and performance,
- Funds for the day-to-day operational expenses of our non-profit. These expenses include insurance, salaries for staff and instructors, and capital for presenting musical presentations in the form of concerts and musical theater,
- Funding for the purchase and maintenance of instruments and the procurement of scores and licenses.
- Support for outreach to the community to let them know about our work.

For years the New Rhythm Arts Center (NRAC) has been making a difference in Rogers Park. Thanks to the incredible work of leaders Alicia and Tom Hempfling over the years, many young people have found their calling in music and life. We are preparing for the next chapter of our organizational journey, with a revision of our previous name. NRAC:New Rhythm Arts Collaborative is seeking your support in reaching out to continue our mission in this new, underserved area on the south side of Chicago while still continuing programming in Rogers Park.
In order to move in this direction, NRAC decided in August to give up the rental space we have occupied over the last two years in Rogers Park. This decision has been made to build capital toward the expanded operation we are building in the exciting Woodlawn neighborhood. As many of you may be aware the Obama Presidential Center is being built in Woodlawn also. Enterprises such as ours have an amazing opportunity for growth as we take advantage of the investments that are starting to be made in this part of the city. Michelle Obama spoke eloquently about why Woodlawn and the neighborhoods surrounding it are so important to invest in at this time.
Please join us to celebrate the winter holidays of 2022. This has been a fantastic year for the New Rhythm Arts Collaborative (NRAC). We have a new name, a new location and we've reorganized our leadership while continuing to provide excellent programming in the Rogers Park Neighborhood. In 2023 we will expand our programming into the Woodlawn neighborhood. This upcoming performance recognizes that milestone. https://newrhythmarts.org/blog/gathering-friends
