PLEASE HELP NEELEY!!

Friday, Jan 22, 2021: Bad news.  News they weren't expecting.  The existing tumors have grown significantly and new tumors have appeared.  He relapsed.....AGAIN.

This horrible journey started in 2018, when Wills was 7.  His first relapse was in 2019.  He's now 10, and it's happening again.  The past three years have been a nightmare.

During this time, Neeley had to put her life on hold.  She was just diving into the real estate business when Wills was first diagnosed.  Neeley, Wills, and little sister Scarlett, live in Pentiction, BC.   All of Wills' treatments take place in Vancouver, a four hour haul.  Neeley is unable to work while in Vancouver.  All of her time and energy is spent caring for a sick child, while trying to keep the other entertained.  She has been scraping by these last three years with the help of family, friends, and even strangers.  But she needs us again.  Wills' prolonged treatment has taken a huge emotional and financial toll on this precious family!  Neeley will have to put her career on hold, yet again, to focus on what's most important - the health of her children.  They will go back to Vancouver to give it one last fight.  She needs our help now more than ever!

All money donated will go directly to Neeley.  Your donation will help with bills, food, and anything she and the kids need to keep their heads above water.  No mother should have to worry about bills while caring for a sick child.

THEIR JOURNEY
This timeline of events paints a very clear picture of the hell they have been through so far.

2018

Jan 30, 2018:  7 year old, Wills was diagnosed with a Wilms Tumor - kidney cancer that affects children.  The tumor was so large, immediate removal would have required partial removal of his spleen, pancreas, and colon.  The doctors wanted to shrink the tumor before removing it.  Unfortunately, they also found 8 other tumors on his lungs.

Neeley and the kids have to pack up and move into the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Vancouver for treatment.

After several brutal weeks of chemo/radiation, the large kidney tumor was small enough to remove.

May of 2018:  The tumor and his entire left kidney was successfully removed.  But, chemo and radiation continued to treat the 8 lung tumors.

August 2018:  The 8 tumors on his lungs are now 4!

Dec 2018: The 4 remaining tumors are stable and not active.  The doctors have made the decision to stop treatment and monitor the situation.  Neeley and the kids are allowed to go home and get back to a little bit of normalcy.

2019

The day after Thanksgiving 2019:  Wills relapses.  The tumors are back in his lungs!  Neeley and the kids have to move back to Vancouver.  This time, she is forced to give up her home and quit her job to care for Wills and Scarlett.

Dec 20, 2019: Wills goes in for another surgery to extract a one of the smaller tumors for biopsy.  They want to see if these new tumors are Wilms tumors or something new.  There is a much larger tumor embedded in his lung that is too risky to remove at this point.  Chemo is to begin 10 days later.  This next round of chemo will be much stronger, which results in harsher side effects and a likelihood of other long term effects.

2020

The start of 2020 was dreadful.  Wills experienced all the side effects:  headaches, nausea, vomiting, extreme body aches and pains, joint pain, etc.  Multiple blood and platelet transfusions were needed to keep his blood pressure and blood counts to normal levels.

Jan 14, 2020:  Wills stem cells were harvested

End of Feb, 2020:  Scans show the largest tumor in his lung has shrunk by half it's volume, and his right kidney was functioning perfectly!  The oncologist doesn't want to remove the larger tumor yet because the surgery would be massive and he'd lose 20% of his lung.   Multiple nodules are still present in both lungs.

March 4, 2020: Wills is released for a 2-3 week break before beginning another round of chemo.

March 11, 2020: Neeley is in the ER with Wills due to a high fever.  His blood pressure kept dropping so they did another transfusion.  He's experiencing nose bleeds and dizziness.  More transfusions are needed over the course of the next few days because his blood counts still remained too low.

Meanwhile... Covid has hit.

March 18, 2020: Wills is finally released from the hospital.

March 22, 2020: Today is Neeley's birthday

March 23, 2020: Neeley is now BACK in the ER but with Scarlett this time.  She had a ruptured appendix, which required surgery.

March 25, 2020: Scarlett is released from the hospital

March 31, 2020: Chemo resumes for Wills.  This will be round 4.  Neeley can't bring Scarlett into Wills room due to Covid restrictions.

April 2020:  Neeley is forced to moved out of RMH because of Covid restrictions.

April 28, 2020: Round 5 of chemo begins.

May 2020: Neeley and the kids settled into a new apartment that is funded by RMH through June.

May 11, 2020: Wills is readmitted to the hospital for a fever.  He receives more transfusions.

May 15, 2020: Wills is released from the hospital

May 29, 2020: Wills starts his 6th and final round of chemo!

June 2020:  A very rough month for Wills.  He was readmitted to the hospital for extreme fever, nausea and vomiting.  He will receive more transfusions.  He now has sores all over his body.  He also has what is called Mucositis - painful inflammation and ulceration of the mucous membranes - in his mouth, rectum, and eyes.  He's still experiencing joint pain as well as constant diarrhea.

An MRI shows that Wills also has avascular necrosis in his left hip as a result of chemo and radiation.

After being in the hospital for the majority of June, Neeley, Wills, and Scarlett are back at the apartment.  Unfortunately at the end of June, Neeley will lose the apartment because RMH will no longer pay the rent.  Neeley cannot afford the monthly payments on her own.  She moves the kids to a hotel until she can figure out a plan.

July 2020: Wills has another scan to show his progress

July 14, 2020: The results show the larger tumor has shrunk to 1/3 of its original size; however, it's still active, which means Wills is not cancer free.  A few days later, Neeley learns that treatment is being put on hold for 3 months.  The doctors want to take additional scans to assure the tumor is active and growing before they subject him to 1 of the 3 very grueling treatment options they previously discussed.

Luckily, Neeley was able to find an apartment back in Pentiction.  She and the kids move back home to enjoy their summer with friends.

It was a great summer!

During this much needed time at home, Neeley starts studying for the Real Estate Brokers Licensing Exam.

October 2, 2020:
Scans reveal no change in the active lung tumor!!  It also shows no signs of tumors or lesions in his right kidney or left kidney fossa (where the left kidney was located).  There is also no evidence of new cancer cells in his lungs. Per the doctors, they will wait another 3 months and monitor.

November 2020:  Neeley passes her exam!!!  After all of this time away from home and work, she is finally getting back on her feet!

2021

January 22, 2021:  Wills goes in for scans, but it is not the news anyone was expecting.  There are at least 4 new tumors!  The larger tumor they have been monitoring has quadrupled in size.  They now have only ONE shot at chemotherapy...one day...one dose.  This will be followed by a stem cell transplant and a lobectomy, which will remove 60% of his left lung.  He will be fighting this with a damaged heart, one kidney, and an exhausted bone marrow.

Please pray for Wills to fight through this.  And please join us in supporting Neeley so she can focus on her family.

*Disclaimer: Since Neeley is in Canada, all funds will be sent to Neeley's mother, Kimberly Moore.  Kimberly will then send the funds to Neeley.
