Hi my name is Samantha Spence,
On the afternoon of the 19th October 2021, we received a phone call no one wants to get! My younger sister Natasha Lane only 45 years old suffered a massive heart attack in Mississippi. Natasha was driving to New Orleans airport with her son Dash aged 6 to take him to Orlando Florida to Disneyland for his birthday.
Natasha managed to divert the car off the motorway and into a ditch to avoid major accident, she asked Dash to call 911 and ask for help unfortunately she passed out and we are unsure for how long. The paramedics arrived and tried to stabilise her, she was then transferred to Memorial Hospital via Helicopter but flat lined during the flight and was again without oxygen for approx 8 minutes.
Natasha has spent the past 7 weeks hooked up to a ventilator and every other machine possible. During the past 2 & ½ weeks she has had numerous EEG’s, CT’s, MRI’ and other invasive tests done she has not shown any progress. The specialists have advised she suffered an anoxic brain injury and we are very unaware of the outcome. Currently she is non responsive & non reactive to anything even though her eyes are open there is no life in them.
My sister Natasha is a single mum to gorgeous Dash with a mortgage and no medical insurance, my sister lived for her son and has always done everything possible to put him first. Dash is Natasha’s world and Natasha is Dash’s world.
As most of you are aware the costs are astronomical for medical help in the US if you have no insurance the ICU costs per day are US$14000.00 plus more for the tests that are carried out, the long term prognosis is not looking good at the moment, she is currently in a vegetative state and will eventually have to go into a long term care facility.
Natasha does not deserve to be in this state, she was in the prime of her life and Dash had his life ahead of him.
As a family we are very private and very close but we need help…..
We need help to help pay for all her medical bills current & ongoing and her mortgage and other costs that have arisen and to make sure Dash gets the education he deserves.
PLEASE help us! We pray every day that she wakes up out of this nightmare but we also have to be prepared that she won’t!
If anyone knows Natasha you would all agree she is an incredible mum, loved life and tried to provide the best that she could for Dash.
To make matters worse, we are in Australia and I am trying to get over to the US but again with COVID it is not easy and it is making it very difficult.
I thank god every day that she has the support of her partner John and an incredible network of friends who have literally dropped everything and have travelled from all over the US to spend time with her. Nina, Ali, Cherish & Jill we thank you and to the other friends who are currently driving to visit to sit by her bed and support we could not of gotten this far without you!!
We would be so grateful for any donations or help no matter how big or small so we can try and get her the help which is needed. It doesn’t matter what country you are in it is all converted if you are unable to donate please share our post.
From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU!
