Please help my Uncle Chris fight Liver Cancer
Donation protected
When my Uncle was 14, he woke up with red dots all over his body. His mother took him to the doctor. This doctor sent him to the local hospital who then sent him to specialists at Johns Hopkins where they diagnosed him with ITP, which is a blood disorder. In order to combat ITP he was given massive amounts of steroids and numerous blood transfusions for platelets. This was in the 1980's before they tested for diseases in donated blood. As a matter of fact, anyone who received a blood transfusion prior to 1992, received blood that was not tested for disease. Unfortunately, he received tainted blood in one of his transfusions and contracted Hepatitis C. Unfortunately my Aunt and Uncle did not find out about the Hepatitis C until 35 years later. The symptoms of Hepatitis C take years to present in a person, so that's why doctors refer to Hepatitis C as the "silent killer". The Hepatitis C is what caused his liver cancer and it damaged his liver beyond rejuvenation. Now he needs a liver transplant and is waiting to get on the donor list. He just completed a round of chemotherapy that did not go as planned. He is now fighting sepsis in an Atlanta hospital. At some point in the very near future his benefits from his current job will cease. Once my Uncle's benefits end through his job my Aunt and Uncle will have to pay the premiums in order to continue his health insurance coverage. They will have to make numerous trips to Atlanta so my Uncle can receive treatment which will require overnight stays and hospitalizations. If my Uncle does not receive this treatment he will die. If you could find it in your heart to donate to this cause my family and I would be very grateful. Any amount is deeply appreciated. Please help us with this fight for his life.
