Hello. I am Cassie's human and this is a shortened version of our story . I have a chronic disabling health condition, as well as a learning disability and Post Traumatic stress disorder. Cassie is my trained little emotional support dog, who has been the reason Ive kept going this past 5 hellish years, through the worst of times for me.
She was relatively healthy until last Friday, when she started vomiting and refused to eat. I took her to the vet where she was examined and they found jaundice, which needed further investigation. So I left her at the animal hospital overnight to have ultrasound scans and blood tests.
I came the next day hoping to take her home only to be taken into a side room and told that she has something called Mucocele, which is a gall bladder and liver/ bile duct issue. The only option was major surgery if she wass to survive at all, otherwise, I'd lose her.
My beautiful loyal dogs life was suddenly at risk, and the full cost of treatment was circa 10,000. This was a stressful time indeed , but look at her lovely big eyes and wagging tail!! No way was I giving up on my cute girl for the sake of money. Cassie was getting the chance to live.
I am insured but only for £2000 per year, and I also have some emergency savings for a rainy day.. so I paid the deposit. The chance of survival was given at 70 percent. Ive been worried sick.. but despite my worst fears Cassie survived the 3 hour surgery, and is now back with me recovering after a week in intensive care.. Ive started this Go Fund Me to cover some of her vet bills, because she has been my lifesaver and I simply cant afford the full amount alone. I dont have family or friends who would help me out.
Cassie has made a remarkable recovery and is running about chasing bunnies like a dog half her age... Shes keeping up with my pet dog little Pippa, something she could never previously do.. Shes on lifelong tablets now for Liver and Thyroid, which are neccessities due to the surgery, but so far so good.. Im still paying the outstanding vet bill, and the Go Fund Me final target is 4000. But 3 months ago I wouldnt have dared hope for Cassie to be eating turkey for Xmas.. but here she is..and we are so grateful to those who donated. Thanks a million..
