Hi, my name is Emma.

A few years ago my son started suffering with breathlessness, lack of energy and generally feeling unwell. After visiting our gp we managed to be referred to a heart surgeon. There was a waiting list of 1 year. After waiting for a year for his appointment we went to the specialist who advised us that his heart looked structurally ok however his ECG was not right. She said he would need to be put on a 72 hour Ecg machine. This took place and when the cardiologist reviewed his Ecg results she advised that he had an extra heart beat and also his heart was showing episodes where it would begin to race before returning to normal. This happened many times throughout his monitoring. At this point the doctor advised he would be referred to another specialist who would advise what to do going forward.

Again we had to wait for this referral. Once we saw the consultant he advised us that my son was suffering from Supraventricular Tachycardia. He advised the best course of action would be surgery he explained that not doing the surgery could cause his heart muscle to tire out and this would cause more issues. We of course agreed straight away only to be told there would be a minimum wait of 1 year.

We were sent away to wait. During this time my son started to feel even more unwell I again spoke to the cardiologist who advised us he would issue a medication to try and help him manage his symptoms.

My son is a keen rugby player and this condition is affecting not only his physical health but also his mental health. He is missing out on alot of schooling as he is being sent home due to being unwell. He is now entering year 11 such an important time for him.

I have chased the operation time after time only to be told we still have to wait. Today we have been informed there is still no end in sight and that there is still quite a few people ahead of him on the waiting list.

We are at the end of our tether and just want him to feel well again.
We have an amazing opportunity to have the surgery done in Belgium by a wonderful professor in October however it is costing alot of money. Which is where you lovely people come in.

I am asking for your help something I never thought i would have to do. I am trying to do as much of this myself as I can however it is just not possible to pay the kind of money they are asking on my own.

Any money raised that isn't used would be donated to the cardiac department of the local hospital to try and help others.

Anyway thats our story. Thank you for reading even if you cant help us i appreciate your time.
