Please Help My Sister Get a New Home
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Rob and my sister Darlene Thompson has lost her home to a tragic fire from a neighboring unit. Her and her 2 children have nothing but the clothes on their back. One teenage daughter (14) and one son (24 with disability). On June 23rd at 10:00 PM, Darlene came home to see her building on fire and rushed to get her kids and cat out of the building. Her unit was next door to unit with the fire, but initial estimates are that the roof is destroyed, the living room is burnt and some of her daughter's room is burnt as well. There is significant water and smoke damage to her place as well. She will not be allowed to enter her home for a long time as the roof could cave in any minute. She has no access to anything recoverable, no clothes and no shoes.
Emergency Services has only paid for 3 nights at a hotel and only $800 for food and clothes. She does not work due to an ongoing ICBC injury (rear ended twice 3 weeks apart and 2 years prior to that) and therefore has no income to help support her and her 2 kids. After the hotel, I have offered to put them up temporarily, but I only have a 2 bedroom place as I live alone.
Darlene has become my adoptive sister and close personal friend over the years. She is one of the most honest and loyal friends I have ever had with a strong faith in The Most High and she is part of my family. She is one of the most kindest, cool headed, passionate person I have known. My heart burns to see her lose her home and everything she owns.
Please help me raise as much money as possible to help my sister thru this troubling time. She has been struggling too long because of the car accidents and does not need this added turmoil in her life.
This money will help her and her kids get clothes, furniture, kitchenware, food, rent and utilities for a few months until she is capable of getting back on her feet after she has healed from the accidents.
