Story:

On September 12, 2025, our family’s world was turned upside down. My nephew, James, suffered a severe stroke that left him unable to talk, paralyzed on the right side of his body, unable to walk, and dependent on a feeding tube. He is now home with his father — my brother, Jimmy Piñon — who is his full-time caregiver.

Jimmy is doing everything he can for his son, but it’s been an emotional and financial struggle. He receives a small amount from Social Security disability, but it barely covers their basic needs. Without James’s income, it has become very difficult for them financially. Jimmy is still having to cover rent, utilities, and household expenses on his own, all while paying out of pocket for James’s therapy until other assistance can begin — which could take several more weeks.

Because of the high cost to onboard him at a facility, James is now going through rehab from home. We’re hoping the benefits we applied for will help get him into the 24-hour care facility he truly needs. We should know the results within the next 5–6 weeks, but until then, all care and therapy costs fall directly on Jimmy.

We are asking for help from family, friends, and anyone with a kind heart. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward James’s therapy, medical care, and daily living needs.

Despite everything he’s been through, James continues to fight each day with courage and determination. He’s working hard in therapy and showing small signs of progress that give us all hope. With continued support, love, and prayer, we believe he’ll keep moving forward on his road to recovery.
