Hi everyone. my mom, Dana, has been struggling with financial issues since i have been born. Most recently she’s receiving a surgery commonly known as a hysterectomy that she desperately needs but might have to put off due to financial issues and having to be out of work for 6 months. Thankfully her insurance covers most of this surgery. I am concerned about her healing after surgery because her oral health has been her biggest struggle and most financially taxing. She has really bad ulcerative colitis and due to this illness she is often malnourished and on high dose steroids which have caused havoc on her teeth despite all the precautions she has taken and dental care. Due to the effects of the malnourishment and steroids on her treat not has made it difficult for her to eat a lot of things which makes her even more malnourished. She takes very good care of her health, but with having 3 kids, being a critical care nurse for 20 years, a single mom, and maintaining her own life it’s genuinely been very difficult for her. In order to get her health and her teeth back in check, it will cost her around $20,000 on top of her surgery and other financial issues. My mom has no idea I’m doing this and would be so embarrassed if she saw this or found out that I did this go fund me so please don’t tell her if you know her. I didn’t know exactly how much her procedure is but when I sent this to my grandmother (my moms mom whose been to every dentist visit with her to try and help figure out financing) that she corrected me and it’s actually $20,000. My mom had to start over when she divorced my step dad with nothing to her name. She had to rent to own furniture from big lots and while paying 1900.00 a month for rent, utilities not included and while sending her children to school. My step father refuses to negotiate on the property settlement and wants to give her nothing although she used her entire paycheck to pay bills and her part of the mortgage and my mother refuses to agree to these terms so the property settlement is still not settled. She is unable to get this settled in a fair way because she can not afford a lawyer for court. My step father is also supposed to pay her child support in which he refuses to do but in order for her to enforce it she has to once again obtain a lawyer and take him to court. Now as if that wasn’t enough, Her first born child’s father has court orders to pay her child support but he refuses and is no where to be found. She has been struggling ever since her divorce 8 years ago trying to make ends meet. She has been tirelessly working on getting her credit score up as all assets during her marriage were in my step dads name so she received no credit. She has continuously had issues with her car and it recently cost her $3,999 to get it fixed due to how old it is and the ware and tare of everyday use. She is also paying tuition for my school. I am deeply concerned because she is having to consider putting her surgery off due to money and could potentially die with out it. It breaks my heart that shes never bought clothes or anything for her self, she cuts her own hair and wears her old broken glasses and has had to use the same pair of contacts for a year . All she wants is to provide for her kids and for them to be happy and healthy and she puts all her money and time and effort into us three children. She does not smile anymore, she avoids going anywhere or social contact because she is so embarrassed by her teeth and her biggest concern is that she worries she embarrasses her children. We miss my moms smile and laughter and all we want is for her to not be embarrassed by what her teeth look like. She needs any contribution to fix her teeth because its important for her patients to be able to understand her and for her to be able to talk to them with out covering her mouth when speaking. As her very proud daughter, i would genuinely appreciate the support if possible. In every every way me and especially my mommie appreciate any amount of help and support that we receive. thank you <3
