Hi, my name is Shawnie and I'm trying to help my mom(Twila) and dad (Mike) raise money to help with medical costs.

For those of you that don't know, on October 8, my mom started having chest pains and was rushed by ambulance from Athena School, where she was subbing, to Mercy Jefferson. They thought she was having a heart attack. They ran a whole bunch of tests and ruled out a heart attack. They then said she had blood clots; those also were ruled out.

Thursday night, I got a phone call from my dad saying that she was having a stroke and she no longer knew who he was or who anyone was, where she was, or the date, and she could no longer talk. The next morning, she still couldn't talk but knew who everyone was. They took her for more testing. Later that evening, I went up to see her, and she had another attack. They did even more testing all day Friday, but still, nothing was figured out.

Saturday and Sunday, they kept trying to get her to talk with no luck. Dad is working on getting her into another doctor for a second opinion.

Today, a week and a half later, they still don't know what happened, but mom now needs speech therapy and insurance won't cover it.
