My mom was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called cholangiocarcinoma( also known as bile duct cancer) in May of 2021. She has fought for her life for the past 2.5 years. She beat the cancer but the cancer treatments destroyed her liver. She now has end stage liver disease with not much longer to live without a transplant. There are only a few Hospitals in the US who will do a liver transplants on patients with a history of cholangiocarcinoma. She received a phone call on Sept 7, 2023 saying Houston Methodist approved her for a transplant. She had 72 hours to get to Texas. My parents left their family, home, dog and all of their belongings and hopped on a plane. She now has to stay there to wait for a liver. She will have to live in Texas for at least a year post transplant. Along with piling medical bills my parents will also have to pay to maintain two households. One in Texas and the other in Rhode Island. My mom will also need multiple care givers who will have lost wages from work and travel expenses. Please help by either donating or sharing. My family is truly grateful for any help we can get. What ever funds are not used will be donated to the cholangiocarcinoma foundation in hopes that one day a cure can be found.
