My Mom needs help, recent surgery caused TBI

Donation protected
I am a clinically disabled caregiver of my Mother who has Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. On April 4, 2025 she underwent surgery and had a ventricular perineal shunt/catheter place in her brain that drains into her abdomen.

Originally after surgery her speech, memory and processing speeds were much better. But once she moved to a sub acute facility she had a mild stroke leaving a bleed the size of a quarter near the vessel of the VP shunt. Back to Stonybrook for observation.

Once stable, she was discharged to an acute rehabilitation center which is much more involved. She liked it and is doing really wheel aside from being terribly out of shape. But, last night she was vomiting and they did another ct scan and found some more blood near the ventricles. They are bringing her back to Stonybrook.

Mom was in Neuro ICU for about a week and they discharged her out to acute rehab again, the same one that caught the bleed and used urgency. (First subacute rehab was horrible- we called 911 because they weren’t using urgency).

I am hoping the third times the charm! I will need to hire someone to assist with me mom. I am looking into VA benefits from mom’s deceased husband that may help with an aid. If anyone can assist me, please do.

Most of you know I lost my Dad to Cancer two years ago this November. It has been the longest 5 years of my life and I honestly don’t know how I can’t stay on top of these medical bills without fundraising. I have applied for financial assistance and have exhausted all other resources. No bill has come yet but they will.
PENDING DISCHARGE, the discovered she needs her gallbladder removed so she will be having that done May 13th.

My mother is 66 years old. She has a rare disorder in which she quit smoking and drinking over 3 years ago. She has been through it and my brother have been with her for it. But it takes a village. Thank you.

I will post all bills and this progress goes on. I am currently under the weather, but soon as I am better I will update with more pictures and progress.

thanks again.
