Please Help My Mom Catch Up On Her Bills

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Moses Domingo, and I am trying to help my mom catch up on her bills.

I feel very desperate putting this together, but I honestly don't know what else I can do to help her. Just like anybody else, I understand that everyone has bills to pay.

But my mom's case is a little bit different.

My mom left for a solo trip to see family in the Philippines on September 26, 2023. She was supposed to return back home to California on December 5, 2023.

However, due to an existing medical policy, Philippine Airlines would not allow her to fly without the use of a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC), despite the clearance of her primary care doctor in California and two other doctors in the Philippines. PAL made no effort in having her condition verified in person by one of their medical staff, so this issue has kept my mother in the Philippines while the airline has taken their time to properly address this issue.

With the delay of her arrival back in California, I had to set aside funds to help cover any additional costs that Philippine Airlines wanted to attach to her bill. Unfortunately, this became a setback for my mother as I was unable to pay many of her bills while we anticipated the opportunity to rebook her departure flight. The constant delays in responding to my mother's situation kept pushing back a proper return date for her. Until recently, my Aunt Theresa (who has arranged my mom's travel plans) had informed us that PAL wanted to charge my mother approximately $3,100 (USD) for use of their POC (as well as the cost for an additional seat on the plane to accommodate the equipment), but with the amazing collective assistance of ABC 7, the Department of Transportation, the US Embassy in Manila, the Philippine Consulate, and the Office of US Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-10), Philippine Airlines is now waiving this fee free of charge.

But as we all know, the bills don't really stop coming. I have been able to defer a few payments, and some creditors had payment plans that are helping us right now, but it's not enough.

Any money that is donated to my mother's GoFundMe will literally help us get caught up with all of her creditors. I know that times are tough for a lot of people right now, and I can certainly understand if you aren't in a position to contribute to my mother's cause. If you are able to contribute even the smallest amount, you would have our eternal gratitude. If you aren't able to help out, just simply sharing this GoFundMe link or the link to her story from ABC 7 would be more than enough for us.

You can read about her story from the news report given by ABC 7 News anchorwoman Dion Lim here: 86 year old California woman can't come home

If you have also had a similar experience with Philippine Airlines or any other airline, please share your story with us!

Regardless of what you choose to do, we humbly appreciate your attention. Thank you for your time.
