Help My Mom Denise & Brother Kevin Amo Recover After Devastating House Fire
This morning around 6:30am, my little brother woke to a strange noise—what we now know was arcing wires inside the wall on the incoming main electrical service. The smoke detector didn’t sound until much later, but thankfully, my brother’s instinct saved them both. He woke our mom and alerted her to the fire.
They called 911 and tried two different fire extinguishers while waiting for help, but the flames kept coming back. My uncle next door rushed over with buckets of water, and a police officer was first on the scene and tried to help. The fire continued to reflare and spread inside the walls.
Firefighters from Taberg, North Bay, Camden, Lee Center, and Lake Delta responded with incredible care and determination. They stayed long after the flames were out to ensure the house didn’t reignite. Our local ambulance team also assisted my mom when it became overwhelming to watch the fire continue.
We now know this was an electrical fire that caused irreparable damage to our family farmhouse—a home that’s been in our family for generations. The smoke, water, and structural damage is extensive. Repairing the home would require major electrical work and costly restoration, and even then it may not be salvageable.
We are asking for help to support my mom and brother with:
• Temporary housing
• Insurance deductibles
• Food and basic necessities
• Cleanup and recovery efforts
The firefighters had to make destructive but necessary interventions to stop the blaze, and we are so grateful for every person who helped. We are doing our best to salvage what we can, and your donation, no matter the size, will be a beacon of hope to help them stay calm, focused, and supported as they begin to recover. We are deeply thankful they and the family pets are safe.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.
