It deeply saddens me to have to do this and my family has never resorted to anything like this but last night we had one the most devastating things of our lives happen and have lost more than ever imaginable. Unexpectedly around 1am my mom and children were woken up to sirens and the loud cracklings of a fire. She awoke to see a huge fire outside, took the kids out of the house, and called me at work right away as first responders were already arriving on the scene. As they were asleep the fire was somehow started and is still currently being investigated. We thank God for the passerby driving to work at this time in the morning who saw the fire and called to report it. It took over 5 hours, 3 Engines, multiple fire police, and more brave and heroic firefighters to even count to put the fire out, but by that time literally everything inside was destroyed and they had to bulldoze the entire building in to take out the smaller fires inside. We lost the lives of our 2 beloved pet goats who lived out in the barn, Fern and her daughter Ivy. My mom rushed back to open their gate when she first came out but sadly it was too late and they could not make it out. There were multiple classical cars inside the garage, including the car that belonged to my Mom’s brother who was killed in a car accident back in 1983 which was kept for the sentimental value behind it. There were also irreplaceable sentimental things that belonged to my grandparents inside. Everything in the barn was all my family had to fall back on financially and now it is all gone.
My mom has been a single mom for the past 18 years and dedicated her life to raising myself and my two sisters, along with helping us with our children when she is not working. The property belongs to my Grandmother who is paralyzed and not able to care for herself due to a stroke. So since the property was paid off and has been in the family for generations there was no insurance on it. Now sadly my we are all left to deal with all this mess and the expense of getting everything cleaned and repaired on top of the daily struggles we already face. She works full time now but she dedicated her whole life to homeschooling my sisters and I, so she never had anything to fall back on financially and with covid hitting the past two years it has made things a struggle for us all. I know everybody has their own financial issues in this time but if you could find it in you to help so my mom and our family has somewhere to at least start, as of now we don’t even know what to do as we are still trying to process the extent of the damage and the years of family heirlooms and 2 sweet innocent lives that were lost in this unforgiving fire.
My mom is 51 years old and now she has to start over from scratch with everything she has maintained over the last 20 years turning to nothing in a matter of hours. Anything will help and we are just trying to get a base for her to start to rebuild things as best we can. Please share this and if you could find it in your heart to help in this time of need our whole family will be forever grateful.
Lastly we want to thank all the amazing first responders for rushing to the scene, risking their lives to put the fire out, explaining to us in our hysterical state everything that was happening, and providing blankets for us and the children.
thank you.
