Please Help My Little Sister's Cardiac Arrest Recovery
Donation protected
It all started when my sister died…for 7 minutes…
The first four hours of work were normal, just like every other day, but it only started out that way. She had just texted her husband about where they should go, he was driving over to take her to lunch for Valentine’s Day. She felt a wave of dizziness come over her as she stood up and as she leaned over to rest her head on her desk she collapsed to the floor.
Her co-worker, who was minutes away from leaving for lunch, saw her collapse and when my sister didn’t get up again, her co-worker moved to her side and saw her begin to have a seizure, her lips turning blue. The co-worker moved quickly and as the seizing stopped she began CPR, instructing another to call 911.
Paramedics arrived to a very dire situation. My sister had suffered from a sudden cardiac arrest, at 40 years old. They removed her co-workers from the room before they cut off her clothes and attached a defibrillator to attempt to bring her back to life. It took two large shocks to get the job done and without the efforts of her co-worker’s CPR, they say she wouldn’t have had a chance. Five minutes later, and both my sister and her co-worker would have been at lunch and the outcome would have been very different.
After two ambulance rides, the installation of a medical defibrillator device in her chest to prevent further cardiac arrests, and nearly two weeks in the hospital, the medical bills have piled up.
We are so thankful that my sister survived, but due to the emergency situation she found herself in, she is not only burdened with the stress of a new serious health situation, but over $20,000 in medical bills. $5,000 of which, are from the ambulance rides, which are not considered medical so the insurance won’t cover anything.
I just want to help her take care of a little part of these bills and want to ask for help from anyone who is able, to help her feel a little less stress from an emergency situation she had no control over. Every little bit helps and anything at all would be much appreciated!
