Hi, my name is Rene Argueta. In the pre-dawn hours of December 18, 2022, my house burned down. The fire started on the wall next to my room. I was awakened by incredible heat and the smell of smoke. My room was bright as day. When I turned around, the wall above my head was already on fire. I panicked! I jumped out of bed and tried to stifle the flames with a blanket, almost falling through the wall in the process. I ran to the sink began to run the water into a large pot and ran outside to investigate. My room was engulfed! I tried to run back inside but the fire had spread so fast that my face burned as I tried to get in to save my sister and my dogs. I got on my stomach and crawled to where my dogs were. I broke the fence, but they wouldn't run. I pulled and dragged them out one by one. I then tried to run back in for my sister but the door was engulfed, and the awning was burning and falling. I want to run but someone was holding me. My sister and her boyfriend busted open the back door, and all I could do was scream "GET OUT, GET OUT, GET OUT". My neighbor kicked the dividing fence out and at some point, he ran back into his own house. I saw my sister running along the fence coming to me, thank god she got to me. I don't know how long any of this was, it seemed like forever, but everyone was out safe! I don't know when but suddenly my nephew was there. I told him to take my sister to safety. One of my dogs was missing, so I began to look for her. At some point my cousin found me, or I found him... I don't know... but he gave me his shoes because I only had the clothes that I was sleeping in. I went on looking for my dog. Finally, someone from the neighborhood came and told me the dog had been found. Holding my dog, I ran to my sister and my other 2 dogs, who were excited to see me. A neighbor walked me to the ambulance, and I was taken to the hospital with 2nd-degree burns on my hands, feet, and face. I lost everything!!!! 32 years of proof I had a life, gone in a matter of minutes!! There is no insurance to help, we are starting over completely. Anything helps, Thank you.
