My name is Tilly, and my Great-Grandad, who lives in the Philippines, is very unwell — and we really need everyone’s help, please.

Two days after his birthday this year (14th September), we spoke to him and could tell he wasn’t himself. He was in a lot of pain in his back. A couple of months before that, he had a fall and landed on a can, which really knocked him. He was taken to hospital and ended up spending 10 days there, which has taken a big toll on both his mobility and his mental state.

After multiple tests, X-rays, and CT scans, we’ve now had some very difficult news. It’s shown that he has a fractured spine, but even more seriously, a large stomach aneurysm measuring 6.2cm — essentially a ticking time bomb, if he Does not get this Surgery ASAP, he is Going to die as the Anayersym is leaking.

My Nan, Great-Aunt, and Great-Uncle have flown out to be with him as a family to see what can be done. He now has a back brace, and after meeting with a consultant today, we’ve been told he needs an operation as soon as possible. Open surgery isn’t an option, and sadly, flying him back to the UK isn’t either. The only possible treatment is to have a stent fitted.

Because he’s a foreigner where he is, there’s no access to healthcare for him — so everything will need to be done privately. Unfortunately The Operation is Going to Cost £30,000 ‍♀️

Moments like this really make you realise how lucky we are in England to have the NHS. ❤️
