On the afternoon of June 18th, a fire caused significant damage to my grandparents’ home in New Mexico. My grandmother had to be hospitalized for the evening to receive oxygen and be monitored, and while my grandfather thankfully avoided the hospital, we all know he probably should’ve gone too — but anyone who knows him knows how stubborn he is.
To make matters worse, due to the increased wildfire risks in the area, their homeowners’ insurance was dropped, and they had not yet been able to secure new coverage. That means this tragedy is hitting them not just emotionally, but financially as well.
The fire damaged attic insulation, and the ceiling had to be removed in much of the home to ensure the fire was out completely. The electrical meter and some of the internal wiring were also destroyed, leaving them without power. The Red Cross has stepped in with some emergency aid, and our family is doing everything we can — but the road to rebuilding will take more than we can manage alone.
If you’re able, any donation—big or small—will go directly toward helping my grandparents restore their home and create a safe place to live again. Every bit of support means the world to us during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting. ❤️
