UPDATE (August 29, 2022)

With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the passing of our great Tatay, Today, August 29, 2022, @ 8:05 pm.

After a long and courageous fight with cancer, my grandfather passed away early this morning. He was a great man and an inspiration to all who met and knew him. His memory will be with us forever.

We are raising money to cover the funeral cost with a memorial service. We’re overwhelmed by the support shown so far and can’t thank you enough for helping our family during this time.

I am here to ask for your help.

 

My mom went to Canada to work and help us have a better life. For the first five years of my life, my grandparents raised my brother and me, and have always been there for us. Now it's time for me to be there for them - Especially my grandfather.

 

In 2011 my grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After a long fight in 2019, he finally won the battle. In early 2020 he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He was going to have the surgery - then the pandemic hit, and his surgery was cancelled.

 

Three days ago, he was finally able to get in the hospital and have his surgery. His cancer had grown over the two-year wait, and his surgery was way bigger and much more serious than we were ready for.

 

Health care in the Philippines is not free and our family is running out of money. My grandfather is a fighter and with treatment and long-term medical care, he may have more good years ahead of him. But unless we can keep paying his medical bills, the only thing I know is I may never get to see him alive again.

 

I have met so many amazing people, made so many friends and thank everyone who has guided and shaped my spirit through Martial Arts and in life. But now, I am here to ask for your help. I am trying to get money to pay for my grandfather's medical bills and everything he'll need to survive. I also want so badly for my mom to go back to the Philippines to be by her dad's side and maybe for my brother and me to be able to go with her, so we can hug our grandfather again too. We want to thank him for all he's done for us, tell him how much he means to us, and tell him how much we love him.
