UPDATE BELOW:
Hello everyone! My name is Shawna. I have a beautiful friend who has been through hell and back and now her son is in need of surgery and he has a long road of recovery ahead of him.
I asked her to write a bit about their situation and I am hoping we can help this beautiful family out.
UPDATE on Shiloh – December 10
At approximately 12 PM today, Shiloh finished his surgery. He stayed in recovery for about an hour because he was very slow to wake and had a hard time coming out of the anesthesia, but overall the surgery was a great success.
After surgery, they completed additional CT scans and X-rays. They discovered a broken bone in his hand and noticed an anomaly in his sinus, which they will be monitoring closely. Shiloh is also being watched carefully for his lacerated spleen to make sure it heals without complications.
His lungs are bruised, so the doctor came in with a little machine to help him do lung exercises every hour. This will support his breathing and help his lungs heal properly.
Shiloh was able to get some food into him after surgery — he was very hungry — but he still can’t chew or eat solid foods. He will need major dental surgery once he is transferred back to the Children’s Hospital.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has donated, reached out, sent thoughts or prayers, or checked in on how we’re doing. Your support means the absolute world to me, and it means everything to my son.
Right now, Shiloh is feeling low, struggling with the pain and with how overwhelming everything is. His mental health is taking a hit, and he keeps begging for no more pokes, no more prods, no more tests. He just wants to sleep, and my heart aches for him.
Thank you again for lifting us up during such a hard time. Your kindness is truly holding us together. :
Please Help My Son Shiloh Recover After a Devastating Accident
Hi, my name is Cherry, and I’m fundraising for my 16-year-old son, Shiloh.
On December 9th, 2025, at approximately 1:57 PM, our lives—and especially Shiloh’s life—were tragically and drastically changed in an instant.
Shiloh was struck by a white Dodge Ram while waiting to cross the road. He stepped slightly toward the edge of the street so vehicles could see he was waiting, but due to what police believe was severe sun glare, the driver did not see him—and he was hit.
In that single moment, everything changed.
Shiloh’s Injuries
Shiloh suffered multiple serious injuries, including:
• A broken pelvis
• A broken femur (thigh bone)
• A broken tibia and fibula
• Injuries to his other leg requiring surgery
• A tear in his spleen, which is bleeding and being closely monitored
His electric scooter, which he used daily for transportation, was completely destroyed. His brand-new $300 seeing glasses, which I had just bought for him, were also broken in the accident.
When Shiloh is conscious, he keeps asking the same heartbreaking question:
“Why didn’t that man stop?”
There is no answer I can give him that takes away his fear or his pain.
He is currently at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, awaiting transfer to Foothills Medical Centre for multiple surgeries. Once stabilized, he will return to Children’s for what will be a long, difficult, and uncertain recovery.
Why I’m Asking for Help
I am a single mother with no family support. I have Shiloh a 7 year old and a one-year-old son who needs care while I stay at the hospital. This means I will be unable to work or attend school for an unknown length of time.
Your support will help us with:
• Emergency childcare for my one-year-old
• Lost wages while I remain at the hospital
• Food, transportation, and basic needs during Shiloh’s care
• Replacing Shiloh’s destroyed glasses and transportation
• Supporting us through weeks—possibly months—of recovery
How You Can Help
Any donation—big or small—will truly make a difference.
If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser or keeping Shiloh in your prayers helps more than you know.
From Our Hearts
Shiloh is brave, scared, and fighting so hard through unimaginable pain. I am staying by his side through every moment, doing everything I can. Your kindness gives us strength during one of the most difficult experiences of our lives.
Thank you for reading, donating, or sharing.
Please keep my boy in your thoughts.
