Please Help My Friend Taylor After Tragedy

Donation protected
On September 20th my best friend and roommate Taylor Ali tragically lost her brother and best friend Tony from a drug overdose and she desperately needs help getting back on her feet and recovering from this loss.

Taylor and Tony’s mom, Tiffany died in November of 2019 from a massive heart attack due to long term alcohol abuse when Taylor was a sophomore in college. Before that Taylor had spent the majority of her teens and early young adulthood caring for her sick mother while still managing to get a scholarship to NAU. Tiffany died right before Taylor’s finals and Taylor was somehow able to complete her finals and carry on to get her Bachelors Degree of Psychological Sciences despite losing her mother and best friend traumatically after spending her childhood trying to save her. That goes to show the strength, resilience, and sheer courage Taylor has shown throughout her whole life in the face of adversity.

Taylor and Tony had just recently gotten in stable contact for the first time since their mom had died. The two months they spent talking while Tony was in jail were the happiest I’d seen Taylor in years. She finally had her brother back and they were helping each other heal from all of the trauma they had both endured as a result of their mother’s alcoholism. Taylor’s brother Tony started using fentanyl after their mom died because he couldn’t cope with the loss of their best friend. Right before he died he was ready to start over. Tony had plans to move up to Flagstaff to a half-way house and get his life back on track and be with Taylor. He wanted to be a football coach and help people, he was so excited for his life and to be with his sister again, who in many ways was his whole world. He was supposed to be released to a treatment facility from jail but when his insurance lapsed he was released back onto the streets.

Taylor drove down to Phoenix to see Tony and try to make sure he made it into the treatment program. They saw each other for the first time in almost four years on Sunday, September 17th and three days later on Wednesday, September 20th Tony had overdosed and died. Taylor’s only 23 and she has overcome so much in such a short amount of time and despite experiencing so much traumatic loss and pain she’s remained one of the most beautiful and giving people I know. When she found out her brother died, she completely broke down and has lost herself. She’s emotionally broken and disturbed from the shattering loss she’s endured. She hasn’t been able to work in 2 months. She’s been practically bed ridden and in a state of shock still. Taylor and Tony’s beautiful mother, Tiffany, died November 21, 2019 one week before Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday season. Celebrating the holidays was such a beautifully kept tradition in their family and the loss of Tony right around the same season where Taylor lost her mom is making this so much harder. While others are gathering with family she’s just trying to figure out how to make it through these next few weeks without the painful nostalgia of what she’ll never be able to get back with her mother and brother crushing her. I know this pain is unbearable for her and it is so hard watching her breakdown and cry and feel hopeless everyday because she’s so good and deserves so much more. I am organizing this gofundme so that on top of everything else, Taylor doesn’t have to have financial stress looming over her head while trying to pick the pieces of her life back up with two of the most important people in her life dying within four years of her, all at such a young age.

Taylor is a wonderful soul who deserves to repair her life and all I can think to do is try to find a way to aide her in such a dire time so that she can focus on realizing how special and important she is and how much her mother and brother would want her to go on and fulfill her dreams of getting her masters degree and becoming a psychologist.

Any donations will go directly to Taylor to help with her monthly bills and overall cost of living whole she begins to put her self back together again while processing this very traumatic and profound loss while still grappling with the loss of her mother. She has already given up so much of her life trying to help and save her mother and brother up until the point they died, almost exactly 4 years apart from each other. She’s spent years worrying herself sick from the burden that had been placed on her. She deserves some rest and help and to find peace knowing that she did all she could and deserves to be happy in spite of the pain her life was been. Thank you all in advance for your love, care, and support to Taylor during this impossible time, it means much more than you can know! Thank you.
