Please help my friend Shari with medical expenses

Dear friends and family,

I am fundraising for my dearest, oldest friend Shari. I honestly never thought I would use this platform, but her needs are dire. I am used to giving on go fund me, mostly to abused animals and such, but here’s a woman who needs your help drastically. Any little bit would help and be more than she has right now, which is very little.

Shari has been suffering with chronic fatigue syndrome for over two decades. This illness is very often misunderstood and often not taken seriously by healthcare providers, friends and family alike. I could attest to the misunderstandings. I honestly could not understand why my best friend didn’t call me on my birthday, why she didn’t attend my daughters Bat Mitzvah’s why she never visited. 

CFS is a disease characterized by extreme fatigue, sleep abnormalities, and intense pain. Many people with CFS are confined to bed. It is a challenge for Shari to do anything. Daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning and bathing, things we all take for granted, are almost impossible for her. Working has been an impossibility.

Shari’s disability payments do not even cover her basic expenses, let alone any medical bills.  Many of her expenses are out of pocket, of which she doesn’t have. She has not been able to get enough help for her disease, or even dental expenses , and is in urgent need of care.

This is a woman that grew up in the same town as me in Whitestone, New York. She went to college at Oneonta State University, she had her whole future in front of her, than this. In over 20 years she has not had the money or the strength to get the proper help.

please give whatever you can to this very important cause. Anything at all will be greatly appreciated. I’d really like to see Shari pick up the pieces of her life and get back on her feet, literally, with some help from her friends.
