Hello friends and family. Right now is a difficult time in our country. Regardless of how one feels about immigration, I believe that we can all agree that bad things are happening to good people.

I know a good person who is in danger of deportation. She has been in my life for over 10 years, and she is a hardworking, caring, wonderful woman. She came to the country as a child, and has lived in the United States for 27 years. She went to high school here, her four children were born here, she made a life here. My friend contributes to her community and to this country. She works, she pays taxes, and she has no criminal record.

She had temporary protected status which allows her to legally remain in the country. My friend has always done her part to renew her status and play by the rules.

Recently, she received a letter that she is in danger of being deported back to El Salvador. She has to hire an attorney to help her fight to remain in the country. She has a chance, but good legal aid is not cheap. My friend is salt of the earth, and she has scraped and saved a small amount of money, but coming up with this sum of money is no easy feat. Any amount of money that we can raise for her will be one less dollar that she needs to worry about during this very stressful time.

I know each of you, and I know that you have a good heart. I recognize that there are millions of people who are facing this battle, so you may be asking yourself what difference will this make? I can assure you, any contribution will make a life changing difference for my friend and her four sons.

A man walking on a beach sees a boy throwing stranded starfish back into the sea. When the man questions the boy's efforts, pointing out the vast number of starfish and the futility of saving them all, the boy replies, "I made a difference to that one."
