Hello everyone, my name is Ashley Russell the youngest daughter of STEVE “thunder eagle” Russell and he was called home may 4th at 6:40pm! My hearts completely shattered at the fact i no longer have my lifelong best friend and it even harder having to explain everything that happened not even 24 hours ago but on tuesday june 25th my dad drove himself to u of l on dutchmans lane because he said he had trouble breathing (if you know my dad its got to be bad for him to get help) where he found out he possibly has chronic heart failure and he had fluid’s on his lungs and was going to be transported to u of l jewish downtown! 9 1/2 hours later the ambulance finally transports him down there, we get down there about 9:45-10ish he hadn’t eaten all day so i went to cafeteria and got him a burger and fries, he ate it was happy and smiling and talking like his normal self, it was 1130 pm i told him i had to go home so i could take kids to school in the morning and id be back and told him i love him, called that night to check on him he was fine i get a call the next day about 11:30am from a nurse saying he walked up to them saying he couldn’t breathe and couldn’t take a full breath and said his heart was pounding and that he collapsed and had 2 cardiac arrest and that they were doing CPR because he coded for the 2nd time and i needed to get down there immediately! I get down there with my brother where they tell us he was now on a ventilator and needed to be sedated until his oxygen levels came back up and he would need dialysis because his kidneys were shutting down after 3 days go by my dad manages to wake up and pull the tube out, i go back and hes talking i made sure to tell him i love him but the doctor was hopeful he said even tho he pulled his tube out his oxygen levels were stable so he could stay of the vent spent as long as i could with him until they make you leave at 830 because visiting hours are over told him i love him and i see him tomorrow morning, i get down there the next day go back to hos room and he’s intubated again, doctors said his heartrate dropped extremely low and hos oxygen levels so they sedated him before he had another cardiac arrest but doctor was still hopeful, the next 3 days was hell he went from being semi ok to having fluid on his body so everything was swollen, and he had sepsis , his kidneys was shutting down still, his liver was failing, his oxygen levels decreased and his blood pressure dropped extremely low and they told us most this information the last day he was alive up until then they expected him to be fine so we didnt think about losing him and my father had no life insurance or even a dollar to his name because he lived with me and i took care of him for the past 10 years! If you know my dad or have ever came in contact with him you know he has a heart of gold and would stop anything’ hes doing at anytime to help ANY AND EVERYONE who needed it ao im asking the community for help because i have no money to put my father to rest or do a memorial and we would really like to do that for him, any thing donated will be used for a cremation and some kind of memorial as thats they cheapest way i can do it but OUR FAMILY need YOUR ALL HELP PLEASE ive missed over a week of work so i have nothing to my name at the moment SO please help me put our father to rest in the way he deserves!
