Hello everyone, April 25, 2016 my father had a widow maker heart attack. He was letting their dog out while my mother was getting ready to go to work. Suddenly their dog was going crazy barking and someone was outside honking their car horn as they watched my father collapse to the ground.

My mother then ran outside and found my father unresponsive on the ground and while the people in the car called an ambulance, mother proceeded to do cpr. She saved my dad’s life and kept him alive until the ambulance arrived. In the ambulance my father coded several times but they were able to revive him thankfully. he was in the hospital in a coma for 3 days and when he woke up he had no idea where he was or what happened and had no memory of what he had done the week prior. My dad still has memory problems because of how long he was without oxygen, and my mom has ptsd brought on by the fact she saw my father dying on the ground.

Now we are onto the newest issues. February 2022 my father went to the doctor and they thought he had copd, however when they did a scan, they found that he had lung cancer as well as lymphoma. They started him on chemotherapy and also radiation. As some of you may know, both of these treatments are very VERY hard on the body, so he wasn’t able to work very often as it made him very sick and very tired.

However, he beat it! But then, this year, they did another scan and found spots on his brain, so he went back to chemo and radiation, partway through did a full body checkup because my dad was complaining about severe stomach pain, and they found a spot on his liver. So here is my father fighting stage 4 liver cancer and brain cancer, the chemo literally being used in an attempt to extend his life as the liver cancer can’t be cured.

On November 2nd of 2024 he was complaining of stomach bloating and stomach pain, then suddenly he started throwing up blood. Literally nothing but blood. So they rushed him to the hospital and he was put in icu. He sat on a toilet at the hospital and nothing but blood came from him. It turned out he had internal bleeding brought on by an ulcer on his liver caused by the chemotherapy.

On December 5th 2024 they did another full body scan and found 4 new spots on his brain and 2 new spots on his liver, and the original liver spot had grown. He has to continue treatment and likely undergo harsher and come the first of the year, his insurance deductibles will start over. Which means it’ll be even harder for them to pay their bills and take care of the repairs necessary for their house.

My father is unable to work, and my mother doesn’t make enough to pay all of the bills. On top of that because of the work that needs done on their house, they have lost their house insurance. They need a new roof, they need their porch fixed, they need siding replaced. And that’s just the outside. On the inside they need new flooring in their hallways as it’s warped and literally coming up on its own.

Added to all of that, they also can’t afford their normal bills: water, power, phones, and internet. All of which are necessary for their daily lives. My mother is a child care provider and looks after a 2 year old, my father is home sick unable to work, and one of my cousins who lives with her is in school.
