My husband lost his job a year and a half ago. He had trouble finding something only until recently. Because of his job loss we had to move an hour away from my step daughter’s school. We lived there for 4 months and then my landlord started to be not a good person. Before we moved in he illegally cut the water meter to turn it back on. The water company locked it originally due to previous non payment and “multiple red flags on the account) because of this the water was shut off. After talking to code enforcement and the water company he was the only one that was able to turn the water on and he refused to. During this time of the water shut off both myself and my almost 2 year old got Covid and couldn’t go anywhere. We stopped paying our rent because of the lack of water to the property. His response was to super glue the locks when we were not there. We have currently found a new place to live that is another hour the other direction and my husband found a job here and got a promotion at his job already! But having to move a family of 5 twice within 6 months has really hurt us on top of struggling already. We are perusing legal action but that takes time and money. We are still fully not moved out and my husband on a snowy day decided to drive to get more stuff and wrecked his truck that we couldn’t afford insurance for. We felt like we were finally getting back on our feet and it seems like we keep getting knocked back down. I’m looking to raise money for a new truck and hopefully enough for legal fees too to take my landlord to court. The place we had to move to requires a truck that can handle deep snow for safety reasons we are way at the top of a mountain (12,000ft) away from everyone else and the only reason we were ok with bringing our family up here is because of this truck. We are scared and broke and I have no idea how we are going to make it. Please whatever you can do to help. We have three kids two of which we need to be able to get to school in the winter.
