Please Help my family! Our house burned down.

My name is Kendall Anderton. On Friday, March 18th, 2022 our home was taken in a tragic fire in Sebastopol. I think it is important to tell you a little back story on our lives. We have lived in Sebastopol for over 18 years. My mom raised 7 kids as a single mom, working day and night to provide for us. We are all grown now, but my sister and I are still living with my mom, along with 3 dogs, and a snake. Our dogs are very well behaved ,two are small dogs and the third is an elderly mid sized dog. My mom is a home caregiver that takes joy in helping those who need the most help, and her jobs usually end with the passing of her clients, it is a very honorable job she has, and one that a lot of people could not do. My sister, Krystal is 19 years old and a full time student at Santa Rosa Junior College taking courses to obtain her EMT degree so that she can find a job helping the community in times of need. Krystal is 6 months pregnant. As for myself, I am almost 21 years old, I became a mother at 15 years old. Against all odds I fought my way to graduate high school and even got scholarships to Santa Rosa Junior College where I am taking courses to obtain my Human Services Degree so that I can join the workforce as a Teen Parent Advocate. My son will be 5 years old on Sunday. About 5 weeks ago we had to leave the only home we knew, because the landlord decided to rent the unit to her daughter, luckily we found our little piece of tranquility in the Sebastopol country. We had only been there for several weeks and still had not unpacked. The fire swept through the units so fast that we barely were able to escape with our lives and our pets. The house is deemed a hazard and is in no way inhabitable. To add to the hardship of trying to find a new home, we have a Section 8 HUD Voucher for Sonoma County, it does not cover any houses within the borders of the city limits of Santa Rosa (They have their own housing program). Even though the voucher is guaranteed rent it is very hard to find a place in this ridiculous rental market. We have been living in a hotel for a week, tomorrow, and are in dire need of finding a new place to call home. My brothers Keith and Vintz, and his son Dakota, who were staying over, the night of the fire, lost $11,500 in cash that they were using to buy an RV of their own to live in and all their and my nephew Dakota’s stuff that was going to be moving into the trailer, so not only did our family lose our home, we lost all of our belongings, all of our clothing, all of the cash that burned, we were able to find $2,000 burned cash in the ruins, and are now trying to figure out how to get over the trauma that we experienced that night. We are a proud family, and having to ask for help is very hard for us, but we need help. We are asking everyone and anyone in our community that can help to please help. Any amount will help, so please don’t think that you can’t donate even $5.00, it all does add up. We are very grateful for every little bit that we get from everyone, from encouraging words to donations. Please help our family get back on our feet.
