I’m creating this GoFundMe in hopes of helping my family and me lay my sweet Meme, Paulette, to rest.

On Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, my Meme unexpectedly passed away. The day before, my mother, Julie, received the life-changing call that she was finally getting a liver transplant. While she was recovering from surgery still under anesthesia — fighting for her own life — she lost her mother. My grandmother.

This past week has been a whirlwind of emotions: joy, relief, heartbreak, and grief all tangled together. We are now faced with the difficult reality that my mother can’t travel as she recovers from her major surgery, and my Meme’s home and final resting place are in Florida. The cost of getting there, and the expenses to give her a proper farewell, feel overwhelming.

Right now, my mom, my sister, and I feel helpless. Asking for help, especially financial help, is not something that comes easy for me — but we are in a place where we can’t do this alone.
