UPDATE: I am sorry for not letting everyone know sooner, but we were in fact evicted from our family home. Despite our efforts Contra Costa Sherriffs did show up and they had us outside of the gates of our own home within 10 minutes. They called Commissioner Jill J. Lifter and she told them she wanted us out immediately. They threatened to arrest everyone including my grandmother and wouldn’t even let us take pets. We were let in for a week and a half to unpack the house and I was able to find my grandmother and mother a new place to stay for the time being.
As of now funds are being used for legal help, u-hauls, moving costs, 2 storages and rent for my mother and grandmother’s new home. I am still looking for a place to stay.
We do not plan to stop fighting for our home and could use a little more support. We have filed an appeal to Commissioner Jill J Lifter’s unlawful decision to not hear my grandmother’s case. They have illegally thrown an 80 year old woman and her disabled daughter out of their home of 30 years!
Please read this story and consider donating to help me and my family with this emergency situation!
Hello, My name is Kevin Hayes. I've created this GoFundMe because me, my grandmother (Faye Myrette Crosley/80 years old/compromised health) and my mother (Roxanne Lynette Hayes/57 years old/disabled, deaf and legally blind) are set to be evicted from our home on January 10th. We have lived in this home for 30+ years. A company called Fay Services/Fay Servicing, owned by Ed Fay are claiming to own the property. In reality they’re trying to collect a debt that doesn’t exist. The man that built the house and my grandmother are the only two known owners of this property. She bought the house from him after he raised his family here. She has never signed any documents authorizing a loan with Fay Servicing. Them along with many other scavenger debt collectors are using falsified documents to steal my grandmother’s property. Fay Servicing is using the law firm called Wright Finlay & Zak to sue my grandmother. They are known for defrauding millions of homeowners.
Recently they claimed to have served her a “Notice of Foreclosure” and they identified her as Caucasian, age 62-65, weight 170, hair white, sex-female, height 5’-8’ This is not accurate. My grandmother is African American, age 80, weight 107 pounds (very noticeably skinny), hair light brown. The process server lied about serving her so that she would not be able to defend herself, miss the court date and be evicted; this is illegal. My grandmother has reached out to Congressman Mark DeSaulnier only to be ignored. She is refusing to pack anything, she has a lifetime worth of valuables in this house and she knows that she has a solid case if anybody is willing to listen. I hate to watch her work tirelessly on this everyday. She can barely move on her own and requires a walker, my mother is developmentally delayed; she is deaf, mute, and legally blind and has numerous health complications. She has glaucoma, and she suffers with pain and needs a safe place to rest and take her medication multiple times a day. My grandmother is a cancer survivor and recently suffered a fall down a flight of stairs, only due to the stress she has had to endure. She broke 5 ribs, punctured her lung and suffered a hole in her head. She can barely move; she has lost most of her mobility. She is a victim of senior abuse and character defamation. Fay Servicing continues to send people to our house to harass us.
We do not have a next step as this is all so sudden. We do not have enough time to unpack this entire house and a lifetime of possessions. I am worried about the initial scene where the sheriffs come to put us out. My grandmother will resist and I am afraid that they will hurt her. I'm concerned that this will impact my mother's quality of life. We have multiple pets that have also grown up here. To see my family thrown out into the cold would be devastating and we would never truly recover.
I’ve created this GoFundMe to raise money for us to find a lawyer and to be properly prepared to take care of my family in the event that we do lose our home. We need help with resources and options and I'm hoping that the community can pull through for us by donating and sharing! Thank you for your time ❤️
