Hi everyone,
My good friend Ali in Gaza has asked me to set up a GoFundMe for him and his family. Ali used to have his own shop where he sold clothes and he had his own office. Unfortunately, both were decimated in the ongoing war. Him and his family (10 members in total) also lost their home. They are currently all living in a tent with no money and no source of income. There are some injuries in his family as well. Things are incredibly difficult in Gaza due to the ongoing war and life is unbearable. Ali and his family would like a second chance at life by evacuating Gaza into Egypt. As you all know, the coordination fees for evacuation cost about $5,000 (can be up to $7,000) per person. Ali and his family do not have that kind of money. That is why they need your help to raise funds so that they can leave Gaza and get back on their feet in Egypt. The tiniest bit helps. No donation is too little. I will be transferring the funds to Ali via Western Union.
Ali and his family have displaced a total of 5 times. They went from Al-Shati' camp to Al-Naser neighborhood to Al-Qarara to Al-Zuwayda to Mawasi Khan Younis to Rafah. When they were in Al-Zuwayda, the house they were sheltering in got bombed, so they fled to Al-Aqsa University in Mawasi Khan Younis to seek shelter there. The University got besieged and they were forced to flee at gunpoint. They displaced to Al-Shaboura camp in Rafah where they are currently staying in a tent.
Their house got partially bombed and Ali's business that cost him $30,000 was completely destroyed (as you can see in the video below). Ali's brother's house was also bombed which resulted in Ali's niece getting injured (minor injury). Ali's father has diabetes and his mother has hypertension.
Ali and his family left their home the first time in summer clothes, but by the time winter came around, they did not even have enough money to buy winter clothes.
Ali's family rely on him completely. All of the money that they had has officially run out and it's been 7 months so far of no job and no source of income. This is why Ali has decided to have a GoFundMe set up for him so that he can raise funds to evacuate himself and his family from Gaza into Egypt. They will start by raising $6,000 at a time so that the first person from their family can evacuate and then they'll raise the next $6,000 so the next person can evacuate, and so on and so forth. Their GoFundMe will also help support their daily life in Gaza by helping them buy food and the basics until they can evacuate. The GoFundMe will also help them after they evacuate because they'll be starting from zero in Egypt and will need financial assistance to get back on their feet again. The goal/target sum of money may be increased as necessary.
Once the funds are raised, I will be transferring them to Ali via Western Union and once they reach him, he will pay the Egyptian travel company called Hala (the most popular company for evacuation) in order to evacuate. Hala charges about $5,000 or more per person.
