On Tuesday, April 21st my elderly grandma lost her home of over 30 years in a sudden and devastating fire at 660 East 187th St. in the Belmont section of the Bronx. Everything she owned:memories, belongings, and the place she felt safest was gone in a matter of minutes. 

By the grace of God and the quick response of my uncle, she was alerted just in time to flee through the fire escape. They got out in the nick of time before the fire fully engulfed her home. 

She is now displaced and facing an overwhelming road ahead. She currently has no permanent place to stay and needs help with basic necessities, temporary housing, clothing and eventually relocating. 

My mother has always done her best to live independently and within her means, but this situation is beyond what she can handle alone.

El martes 21 de abril, mi abuela anciana perdió su hogar de más de 30 años en un incendio repentino y devastador en el 660 East 187th St., en la sección Belmont del Bronx. Todo lo que poseía:recuerdos, pertenencias y el lugar donde se sentía más segura desapareció en cuestión de minutos. 

Por la gracia de Dios y la rápida respuesta de mi tío, fue alertada justo a tiempo para huir por la escalera de incendios. Salieron en el último momento antes de que el fuego envolviera completamente su hogar. 

Ahora está desplazada y enfrentando un camino abrumador por delante. Actualmente no tiene un lugar permanente donde quedarse y necesita ayuda con necesidades básicas, vivienda temporal, ropa y eventualmente reubicarse. 

Mi madre siempre ha hecho todo lo posible por vivir de manera independiente y dentro de sus medios, pero esta situación está más allá de lo que puede manejar sola.
