Please help my dearest cousin!
Mandi is 51 years old, full of energy and full of life. She was recently diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer to the lymph nodes, ribs, spine and possible right hip. Like many others who have experienced this devastating reality, the shock was as overwhelming and shocking as it could be.
Breast cancer is a fast growing illness and it did not take long to spread, grow and invade Mandi who was simply controlling different symptoms like localized pain in different parts of her body, lack of energy, etc. To aggravate the situation, Mandi was at that time living in a remote town in Margarita Island, Venezuela where she used her talented hands in making beautiful craft and art pieces. She tried, on her own, to manage. Day by day, some better than others, some eager to live her day fully and some completely defeated by this relentless illness, not knowing then, what was truly happening. That's when she contacted me and I told her then that she needed to move immediately to Caracas to get things going: find an oncologist, get more biopsies, and get tests done; to confirm what we know now.
Mandi relocated to Caracas, Venezuela, where her parents and family live and where better care is more accessible. She has an excellent oncologist now, who was helped immensely in getting things aggressively going for her. He gave her a 60 in the Karfnosky performance score meaning that she is unable to work and in need of some help on a daily basis. She has gone now her first 10 localized radio-therapy, and soon she will be starting her next 6 months treatment based on the application of zoledronic acid as bone protector and hormonal blocking to help stop the progression of the illness to then evaluate the next steps to eventually push it back to remission. That is our hope and the doctor's plan.
We have faith, love, and enthusiasm to push through, but there is so much money we have been able to receive from family and friends. I am now creating this account as a channel for your love and generosity to reach Mandi. No matter how big or small. Your help will be received with love and will be used to fund her cancer treatment, nurse, and living expenses, and with your help and that of her doctors, she will get better to continue her life , as she has always lived it: excited and alive!

Mi prima Mandi de 51 años de edad ha sido recientemente diagnosticada con cáncer de seno estadio IV con metástasis en los ganglios linfáticos, las costillas, la columna y posiblemente la cadera derecha.
Esta enfermedad de rápido crecimiento no tardó en propagarse, crecer e invadir a Mandi, que simplemente estaba tratando de controlar diferentes síntomas como dolor localizado en diferentes partes del cuerpo, falta de energía, etc. Para agravar su situación, Mandi estaba para ese entonces viviendo en un pueblo remoto en la Isla de Margarita en Venezuela, donde usó sus talentosas manos para hacer hermosas artesanías y piezas de arte. Ella intentó arreglárselas por su cuenta. Día a día, unos mejores que otros, unos con la ansiedad de vivir su día a plenitud y algunos completamente derrotados por esta implacable enfermedad, sin saber entonces, lo que realmente le estaba sucediendo. Fue entonces cuando ella me contactó para compartir lo que le estaba pasando y cuando le recomendé que se fuese de inmediato a Caracas para poner las cosas en marcha: Buscar un oncólogo, hacerse biopsias y hacerse pruebas; para confirmar lo que sabemos ahora.
Gracias a Dios, Mandi se mudo a Caracas, Venezuela, donde viven sus padres y algunos de sus familiares y donde la atención médica es más accesible. Ahora tiene un excelente oncólogo, del cual ha recibido una inmensa ayuda diseñando las primeras partes del plan para atacar agresivamente esta enfermedad. Como parte de todos los exámenes que le han realizado hasta los momentos, le hicieron un análisis de desempeño en el cual la calificaron con 60 en la escala de Karfnosky, lo que significa que no puede trabajar y que necesita un poco de ayuda en el desempeño de su vida diaria. Afortunadamente ya obtuvo sus primeras 10 sesiones de radioterapia localizada, y en una semana deberá comenzar su próximo tratamiento de 6 meses a base de un bloqueo hormonal y aplicación de ácido zoledrónico para los huesos. Todo esto para frenar la progresión de la enfermedad para luego re evaluar y considerar los próximos pasos a seguir bien sean: quimioterapias, operaciones, y otras siempre con el fin de lograr remisión. Esa es nuestra esperanza y el plan de los doctores.
Tenemos mucha fe, amor y esperanza en que mejorará, pero para que ella pueda seguir adelante necesitamos de tu colaboración, motivo por el cual estoy creando esta cuenta para que tu generosidad a través de tus donaciones le lleguen a Mandi. No importa cuán grande o cuán pequeño sea tu aporte, todo suma. Tu ayuda será recibida con cariño y será utilizada por Mandi para financiar su tratamiento, su enfermera y su manutención.
