This is hard.
Jessie is aware of the need to fundraise and feels incredibly uncomfortable with it, so we are managing it on her behalf.
We are a family who don't normally do this kind of thing, but we are left with little option but to reach out for help—sorry in advance.
My daughter, Jessie (21yrs), has been suffering and struggling with severe Endometriosis and Premenstrual Dysmorphic Disorder (PMDD) since she was 11.
Her life has been dramatically effected, as she was unable to complete her schooling and be free to live a normal teenage life as others might. However, she has fought through, showed huge resilience in the face of daily pain and mood variability, and has even moved out and got herself to university for a year. We are so proud.
However, over the last year the pain has become constant. There are days she struggles to walk and feed herself. Her sleep and daily living has been so badly effected, she has had to cut short her education and move back home for constant support. This is no life for a 21 year old.
She is due a major operation in May/June this year that will hopefully excise the Endometrial tissue and help relieve the pain. Her surgeons have advised her to freeze her eggs before this operation as there is a high risk her fertility will be jeopardised. She is a maternal person and is determined to preserve her fertility. Unfortunately in this case, egg freezing is not funded by the NHS, despite our desperation to preserve Jessie's fertility. We are desperate to raise the money and to raise awareness about this sad issue, for the sake of my daughter.
Because Endometriosis has been left on the shelf, despite the fact that 1 in 10 women suffer from it, Jessie has no other option but to ask for your help to secure her fertility options and ease the wide-ranging and negative impacts of its inflammatory and chronic nature. Biologically speaking, the clock is ticking faster than normal, so we majorly need the support.
Please consider helping our Jess—any amount would be amazing and we don't necessarily expect to raise the full amount. Any amount of help would be so gratefully received.
It saddens me to have to appeal, not only for my daughters sake but also that our NHS is now significantly privatised in many areas and will not always cover the costs of serious medical procedures such as this one. Please help me reclaim some of my daughter's lost freedom.
Love and thanks
Ruth, Jess, and Family xx
