My daughter is a devoted single mother who has always put her children’s needs first. Recently, her 3-month-old son became very ill and was admitted to Children’s Hospital. The doctors are still unsure when he will be discharged, and even after he returns home, he will need ongoing care and medical equipment. Because of this, my daughter has had to take unpaid time off work to stay by his side and care for him, leaving her unable to pay for rent, car payments, and other essential provisions for her family.
