Please help my brother after T.B.I.

  • On November 25th, 2023, my brother Joe was assaulted, just one day after his wife's feeding tube was removed for a month-long break. Joe suffered a fractured skull, brain bleed, frontal lobe damage, and traumatic brain injury among numerous other injuries. Sadly and disgustingly, by those he loved and trusted most. As of today, he has been in the Neurotrauma ICU for 18 days. My brother has always worked, sometimes up to 3 jobs at a time, to care for his sick wife and family. Joe is a Ret USARMY-NG Veteran. My "Joint Bar" family fell in love with his work ethic, commitment to his country, and care for his wife. Joe is the Honorary Soldier of The Joint Bar (HQ). His picture is proudly hanging on the wall, next to the American flag! His wife, Jessica, has been a patient at the Mayo Clinic and on a feeding tube for 55 weeks. Joe has been her primary in-home caregiver for years. With absolutely no way of foreseeing this happening, Joe Has used all of his FMLA points and PTO bringing her to and from the hospital every 6 weeks along with other appointments. These appointments usually come in 3-day blocks and Joe would drive her to Rochester, rest up, and return to the cities as to not lose desperately needed hours. 90+ miles each way. Unfortunately, as wonderful as it sounds...it just was not cost effective and impossible on days she has procedures. The copays, formula, feeding tube supplies...gas, and lodging, have taken a major toll on their finances. But Joe always made it work. With all they've already managed to live through, this brutal assault has altered their world in ways one cannot imagine. Sadly, Joe doesn't understand the severity of his injuries and now it will only cause his damaged but healing brain, stress, and worry it just cannot handle. He is looking at months of rehabilitation and recovery but can only think about missing hours at work. An investigation is ongoing. They had to retain an attorney and it could be months before they're able to collect any of all that will be owed to him. For the 1st time, they have no income. They've stolen so much from us and Joe may never be the same. We realize it's the Holiday season, but if you could find it in your hearts to help us, it would be greatly appreciated. With love and thanks,
~Lil Lynda~
