Please help my boy Isaac walk again!

Donation protected
Isaac fell from the car while trying to get up into the backseat. He misplaced his back footing and slipped backwards, causing him to fall back onto his bottom.

Isaac is a 7-year-old Black Labrador and a registered Delta Therapy Dog. Before COVID-19, Isaac had been visiting RPA Hospital every week.

Isaac was admitted to VSOS (Veterinary Specialist of Sydney) in Miranda.

Isaac has some movement in his legs but cannot get up on his own, losing all function and is in pain.

Isaac had an MRI & has a bulging disk in his lower neck (C6 & C7) - resulting in Ventral Slot surgery.

Ventral Spinal Cord surgery will remove the compression on his spinal cord & has been given an 80% success rate.

This surgery entailed making an incision under his neck & retracting structures such as his Oesophagus and Trachea so that his vertebrae bodies (bony castings for the spinal cord) could be accessed. A window was burred over his interverbal disc until his spinal canal was reached to allow spinal cord decompression.

Isaac is doing well after surgery; he has had a bit of chicken but will need time to recover & heal. He will need long-term ongoing physical therapy rehabilitation.
