Please Help My Bonus Dad During A Time Of Need
Donation protected
I'm reaching out to you today on behalf of my Stepdad, Bill, who I proudly consider my "Bonus Dad." He's always been there for me, never treating me like a Stepson, and has played a significant role in shaping me into the person I am today. So technically, you could say he might be partly to blame for my slightly asshole personality
Bill came into my life in 1987 when he started dating my Mother Cindy, and in August of 1988, they married. Since then, Bill has been a constant source of love and support, and he's been an integral part of our family.
Recently, Bill underwent a challenging triple bypass surgery on September 29th. The procedure involved replacing three clogged veins coming from his heart with grafts from his legs and chest. Fortunately, the surgery went well, but he's currently still in the ICU, where the medical team is working to stabilize his heart rate.
Before I go on, I want to extend my sincerest apologies if you're learning about Bill's condition through this GoFundMe campaign. Bill made the request to keep this situation quiet until after his surgery, to avoid being bombarded with phone calls and well-wishes that could have added stress to an already challenging time. Please understand that my/our intention is solely to support him in his recovery journey.
Here's where we could use your help/support. When Bill signed up for short-term disability, he accidentally selected the wrong plan. As a result, his disability benefits won't kick in until he's been out of work for over 60 days. If there are no setbacks going forward, he is looking at about an 8 week recovery time. The last thing we want him to worry about during his recovery is finances.
Bill has been an incredible influence in my life, guiding me through the ups and downs, and helping me become the person I am today. Now, it's my turn to be there for him in his time of need. Together, we can ensure he can focus on his recovery without the stress of mounting bills.
We've set up this GoFundMe page to raise funds to support Bill during his recovery period. Your generous contributions will go toward covering his living expenses, medical bills, and other essential costs during this challenging time.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. If you can't contribute financially, please consider sharing this campaign with your friends and family to help us reach a wider audience.
Let's rally together to show our love and support for Bill, my incredible Bonus Dad. Your kindness will not only relieve the financial burden but also remind him that he has a network of people who care deeply about his well-being. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us!
UPDATE- 10/06/2023
Bill was having trouble with his heart rate being out of rhythm after surgery. On October 3rd the Doctors performed a series of three Electrical Cardioversions (shocking the heart) to try to get the heart rate corrected, to no success. Then on October 4th, the Doctors administered a Chemical Cardioversion treatment through an IV to try and correct his heart rate. The IV was hopefully going to return his heart rate to normal within 24 hours, but again, there was no positive results. On October 5th the Doctors were discussing whether or not they were going to try another medication, or the "Shock Treatment" on the next attempt..... But, then...... This morning, October 6th, at around 6:30 a.m I got a phone call from a very sore, tired sounding Bonus Dad informing me that his heart rate returned to normal at some point during the night, and everything is looking good. He was having some tubes removed this morning and getting ready to go for his morning walk. Hopefully he will be moved out of ICU sometime today or tomorrow.
Update 10/08/2023
Bill continues to show improvement. His heart rate has continued to remain in the desired rhythm. He was moved out of the ICU this afternoon, and is now downstairs in the recovery rooms. One step closer to getting home. Thank you all for the continued support along Bill's road to recovery.
