Dearest supporters,
this is Anna from Seniors and Silky Rescue Inc and I am asking for much needed help for our girls.
Our bank account is taking a totally unexpected beating.
We need your URGENT HELP here via Go Fund Me or through direct donations. Click Here To Donate
MUNCHKIN
To begin, our gorgeous Mumma Munchkin has bilateral luxating patellas Grade 4.
Mumma came into our care heavily pregnant raised her 3 beautiful babies into lovely little dogs.
It's been a long time in the planning, with a move to Sydney to access the best surgeons and three different Vet opinions on the best way forward.
Rarely do we ever rescue a dog as young as Munchkin with such bad legs, too often we save much older dogs who have passed the stage of being surgical candidates and can only provide medical management. This time, we have a chance to fix Munchkins legs while she is a young adult.
I wish you could all see the sweet, active, loving dog that she is. She really deserves this.
Realistically we're looking at thousands to get her up and running on stable legs. Then onto her new home.
Munchkins full story is on our website if you would like to read the link provided.
But once I have a firm quote (approx +/- $5000) I'll include it on her story page and update GFM. Click Here To Read Her Story
*An awesome fundraiser with some fantastic prizes was planned for Munchkin's surgery funding. Unfortunately these plans are on hold due to a tragic loss which will take us all a while to grieve through, as it has affected us deeply.*
DOLLY
is almost ready to have her second mammary strip surgery.
We were kindly donated enough funds to complete her first surgery to desex and strip her mammary tumours on one side. She has now recovered and she needs the other side done soon so our sweet girl used as a breeding machine can become healthy and ready for adoption. Due to the huge amount of skin taken during her first mammary strip we have a couple more weeks for her skin to stretch out enough so that the second strip surgery can be done safely. She also needs a benign lump removed from her neck.
*Estimated cost is +/- $1200
TINKER
Our darling Forever Care, Senior Silky Terrier, Tinker, retired into care after her past mystery failing organs and lengthy stay in the specialist hospital. She miraculously recovered with ultimately no diagnosis.
Well ...... Tinker has given us another surprise hospital bill that has stung our budget.
To paint you a picture, Tinker suddenly became distressed and was rushed to the 24/7 specialists. Her tummy was painful and she pawed at her mouth, crying and panting. Straight away I thought she had something stuck in her throat.
She was bundled into the car and triaged on arrival.
The Emergency Vet leapt into action.
Here comes the mystery that is Tinker.
With absolutely zero access to extra food and diet strictly controlled .... an x-ray showed her prescription kibble (served with bone broth for moisture) was lodged in her stomach. Distending it to 3 times the size it should have been.
She was bloated.
Bloat from food or gas can lead to torsion - a fatal twist of the stomach.
Bloat can also lead to breakdown of circulation to areas of the stomach or intestines. A critical and deadly complication.
She was given pain relief immediately, comprehensive blood and urine analysis were done to rule out sepsis amongst other things, and she was administered supportive fluid therapy.
Surgeons were poised to act if torsion began. She was closely observed during night for any complications and given ultrasounds to make sure her stomach was adequately dissolving the food it contained.
Then, Tinker's condition improved overnight and during the next day. Weak but alive.
*** Tinker dodged disaster yet again! ****
An unexpected $3000 later and she is home. As if nothing happened. She has however, turned everyone's hair grey.
Urgent Addition! MAVIS!
She's a lovely happy girl but we've never been able to pin down the cause or diagnosis of her intermittent lameness. Primarily assumed to be age related. Elbows, shoulders, ankles .... each examination or x-ray was giving us a different result.
On her last visit with an Orthopaedic surgeon, his intuition said to do one extra test we haven't done before. A very specific blood marker for a rare inflammatory process.
As of the 7th, results are back as positive.
Mavis now needs another full blood panel and 'tap' to extract the joint fluid for laboratory analysis. What we're looking for is further diagnosis of what is probably 'Polyarthritis'.
Estimate for the procedure, lab testing and medical treatment is +/- $1500
So there we have it. I'm at your mercy yet again.
And I need to beg for help yet again for the sake of all our dogs.
Our additional financial commitments are ever present.
Dogs in rehab care and waiting for adoption, Forever Care dogs, one more darling poundie already committed to and constant meds & supplies needed on top of what we need for the girl's expenses.
Can you please help?
Even if it's a few seconds to click the 'Share' Button'?
Much love and many thanks for reading,
xxxx Anna
