Hi everyone, and thank you for visiting Walter’s GoFundMe page. My name is Yvette and I am fundraising to save my cat Walter. 

Walter is a sweet, affectionate cat that has brought me a lot of joy in my life. Although Walter is 4.5 years old, he has been recently diagnosed with lymphoma. I found this out when he started acting strangely for a few weeks (not eating, hiding), and I took him to the vet. They referred me to Pet’s Referral Center Emergency Hospital, and after an ultrasound and specimen test, they said he had a mass on his small intestine and it was cancerous. I was devastated. I love Walter very much. I’ve had Walter for 4 years, I adopted him when he was a kitten from the Contra Costa Humane Society, and he’s been my best friend ever since. This is heartbreaking.

 

He is young, and the cancer was detected early. So, if he is treated with chemotherapy and responds well, he has an excellent chance to live for years to come. I have already started the treatments with Walter, he has had his first 3 chemo treatments and he is reacting well to it. This is a very good sign that with continued treatments, he can beat this thing! He has been currently responding well to his treatments and is happy. He runs, plays, eats and chases his sister Rosie. Walter’s an important part of my life, my baby, and my emotional support animal. He’s the sweetest cat, comes when I call his name, jumps up for pets, gives me kisses, sits on my lap when I’m reading and sleeps by my feet every night. I have been saving every penny I can to treat him, but unfortunately, I can’t afford to continue his chemo treatments and I am running out of options.

 

I live alone with my 2 cats and have expensive rent because I live in the Bay Area. I have no family that live in the Bay Area and very few family that live in California as it is. I don’t make enough to support myself and keep up with the expenses of the treatments.

 

I cannot afford the chemotherapy necessary for Walter to keep living a happy and healthy life, so I humbly ask your generosity in donating to support paying for Walter’s treatment. The total for Walter's treatment comes to around $9,897.90 ($3,948.90 for 2 months of weekly chemotherapy treatments and $5,9496 for 6 months of maintenance chemo at home. Which comes out to $1,237.24 a month for 8 months). The vet said if he doesn’t get the treatment, he will have only 1 – 3 months left to live. I depend on Walter for strength and unconditional love. I’m hesitant to ask for help, but I want to do everything within my means to help Walter. I am a quiet and private person and it takes a lot for me to even write this. I’m writing this because I really care about Walter, he is responding well to the treatments and I want to continue with the treatments and I need help financially.
