Friends, please make a donation to help the Mathieu family with some medical expenses they are facing. OLV’s former teacher, Manny Mathieu was taken to the hospital after his leg gave out on him on January 13th.
The next day Manny had to have emergency surgery because he had an aortic dissection. Manny also had the flu, so he recovered from the surgery, but he had to be put back on life support due to fluid in his lungs.
Manny also has a clot in his leg and has suffered two mini strokes and he is now on dialysis. Currently, Manny is at Select Specialty Hospital in Midtown Atlanta and the staff is working to remove the Tracheotomy tube removed from his neck.
Manny has been breathing unassisted for three days and they the hospital staff has him on a trach collar with a speaking valve. He is able to speak in simple sentences with a whisper tone now, but he is still unable to walk without support and perform basic self-care tasks, and he will need weeks of occupational therapy, speech therapy, and cognitive therapy to be fully recovered.
