Late last year, Monique went in for a routine mammogram. At the age of 40, it was the first one she had ever had.
Monique had no reason to be concerned. This was just one of those routine exams you start at the age of 40. After all, no one in her family had breast cancer. What were the odds, especially at her age, that something could go wrong?
Just one week before Thanksgiving, Monique was diagnosed with HERS2+ Breast Cancer. The doctors quickly recommended an aggressive treatment plan that included chemotherapy every three weeks. Though she knew the treatment would be physically and emotionally challenging, Monique didn't know how difficult her recovery would be.
Each and every time Monique undergoes a chemotherapy treatment, she is forced to miss 10 days of work because the nausea and fatigue are too much to handle. She doesn't have any short term disability, so if she doesn't go to work, she doesn't get paid. There is a year of treatment ahead of her and little savings to fall back on after a new year demanded that a new deductible be met.
Monique is a devoted mother, generous friend, and all around wonderful person. She needs our help to fight this fight. Please consider even a small donation, and know that every dollar makes a big difference to her and her family.
