Our whole lives were devastated and changed forever on December 25, 2021. That’s when we found out my wife Monika was diagnosed with Level 4 Glioblastoma. Level 4 Glioblastoma or (GBM) is cancerous and the most aggressive of all the brain tumors. It was located on the left side of the brain, the size of a small egg. This part of the brain is home to the language and speech functions. The following days were spent at UCSF hospital (S.F. California) as the medical staff was evaluating when to have surgery. Finally on January 3rd, 2022 Monika had her craniotomy performed and 3 days later suffered a unexpected blood clot. The MRI revealed new blood in her brain, skull and underneath her skin. This blood clot is particularly rare after having this type of surgery. So on January 6th Monika went in for a successful craniotomy emergency surgery for cleanup of the blood clot. Spending another 5 days in ICU she was able to battle through the incredible odds. By the grace of God we were able to get out of UCSF Hospital on January 11th with no further issues.

My wife is a good, sweet and compassionate woman, she’s the mother of two beautiful children, 25 year old Erick and 7 year old Danika. She’s a treasured wife, daughter, sister, Nina and cousin and a loved, respected, valued and trusted friend. Before this took place she was a hard working, passionate and a well respected purchasing agent in the roofing industry. Also, she helped with recovering NA/AA members trying to get their lives back on track. Helping them get jobs stay clean and live a normal life, she has a HUGE heart and very compassionate. She’s a big believer in second chances and ironically she deserves a second chance as well. She’s still young and willing to fight and make this a testimony. She enjoys watching our daughter play sports, camping with the family and being my gym companion (just to name a few things.) It’s really unbelievable this materialized to such a young, bright, strong beautiful woman, but she is determined to out live the prognosis and has never claimed it.

Grievously, this was all unplanned. During this hardship we have used up all of our life savings and allocated it at the jaw dropping hospital expenses coming our way. Unfortunately at the time of this incident we were uninsured and have been paying out-of-pocket. With a long road ahead of us financially with doctors visits, past surgeries, hospital stays, rehabilitation, travel expenses, radiation, chemotherapy and possible clinical trial through UCSF we will be financially exhausted.

I know Monika would never ask, so on her behalf I will do it for her, she deserves it. If it’s placed on your heart to give, donate or gift her it would be absolutely a genuine blessing. All proceeds will go straight to Monika’s medical expenses and for our survival necessities . If you’re not able to help out financially we understand that as well. Alternately, If you could, instead say a prayer for a medical miracle and a financial blessing for us, we will receive that as just the same. “We love you no matter what.”
