Hi, my name is Mia, and I am fundraising for my sister and best friend, Monica Murphy. Monica is currently a massage therapist and is planning to go back to school to become an interior designer.

On June 29, 2022, Monica was diagnosed with breast cancer. Though not genetic, the news was very triggering being that our mom died from breast cancer almost 10 years ago back in August 2013. After a couple of biopsies, Monica’s doctors have concluded that she is in an early stage of cancer but she will need to undergo surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.

Not only is Monica preparing for surgery, she has been advised to begin the process of freezing her eggs, if she hopes to have children in the future. Not many insurance companies cover the cost of fertility treatments and the goal of this fundraiser would be to help cover some of the costs of the procedure.
