Support migrant workers' emergency needs in Lebanon

Donation protected
An update from March, 2026:
REMAN and broader civil society and volunteers in Lebanon are again responding to immediate and urgent needs, following a wave of airstrikes across southern Beirut, Beqaa, and southern Lebanon triggered this week. Over 89,000 people have been displaced in Lebanon, and REMAN are receiving news from members of their community facing displacement.

As a result, REMAN are working to secure shelter and urgent humanitarian support to their community members, and I am reopening this fundraiser to donations should anyone wish to contribute. As in 2024-2025, REMAN will be funding the below, and all donations will be shared directly with REMAN's team in Lebanon:
  • Transport costs for women in the affected areas to reach safe locations,
  • Subsistence, including food, drinks, a community kitchen to support one-two meals per day,
  • Medication,
  • Personal hygiene items,
  • Mattresses and/or essential needs within migrant shelters.

Thank you for your support.

The Israeli aggression has killed over 3,670 and injured over 15,413 people since October 2023 in Lebanon and since increasing operations in September, over 1.5 million people have been displaced across the country. In the midst of this crisis, migrant and domestic workers, already heavily marginalised through the Kafala and systemic racism, are facing acute risks. REMAN, a group of African migrants in Lebanon, are coordinating an emergency response to support the migrant women and their families in the face of this crisis.

We are asking for your support to enable members of REMAN in Lebanon, to organise and provide this vital support to people displaced by the bombing, and provide basic necessities. You can read more about REMAN's immediate and ongoing response to the crisis in this article.

REMAN has been operating since 2021, creating community spaces for migrant women and their families in Lebanon, many of whom are within or have escaped the Kafala system. With the ongoing and rapid escalation of the crisis, REMAN are refocussing on providing an emergency response to support affected community members, who are already struggling to access many of these needs. REMAN and their contacts have already shared reports of migrants being turned away from shelters, or left behind by their host families evacuating from the bombing.

This fundraiser is coordinated by Bénédicte, a French-Lebanese woman in the UK. I've been working with Viany, a Cameroonian woman in Lebanon and one of REMAN's founders, since January 2024.

Thank you for your solidarity and support at this critical time. 100% of your donations will be going to support REMAN and migrant workers in Lebanon through this crisis.
